...mi padre era joven, fue (or iba) al parque... (it's kind of hard to read the sentences and see the choices)
Tuvo ojos azules...
These two sentences use the preterit tense since they were talking about something that happened yesterday, or when the father was young IF it's a contained about of time.
If the sentence talks about something that is happening today or right now, it uses present tense.
 If the sentence talks about something ongoing in the past with no marked starting or end time, or the time isn't specified of when it happens, it uses the imperfect tense. (aba and ía endings)
