Answer:

Because he envied women as they are socially accepted to be interested in literature and arts but men were not.

Explanation:

In his essay, "The Men We Carry In Our Minds", Scott Russell Sanders shares his thoughts about the gender roles in the society during his time. In his time, Sanders share that men were looked like a working horse, who just work all day without spending time on other things. During his time men in the society were expected to work only as factory workers and soldiers. The purpose of his essay was to assert that it is not only men who go through hard times in their life but women too.

In lines 135-153, Sanders shares that in his childhood, he used to envy women because they had the privilege of choosing arts and literature but men do not have such privileges then. He used to think that it is <em>"tough being a man ".</em> He said this to support his idea of how tough it is being a man.

!HELP ASAP! !WILL DO BRAINLIEST FOR BEST ANSWER! How does paragraph 49 contribute the the theme of the story? Cite evidence from
sergejj [24]

Answer:

Author Terry Bisson's short story, which reads as a conversation between two extraterrestrials, first appeared in ''Omni'' magazine in 1990. When it opens, the two beings are talking about an encounter they've had with creatures (presumably humans) they've ''picked up from different parts of the planet.'' The first being is questioning the second about the makeup of these creatures and cannot seem to understand how meat could be capable of making - and using - machines:

''That's ridiculous. How can meat make a machine? You're asking me to believe in sentient meat.'' To be sentient means to have feelings or senses.

The first being simply cannot believe that anything made of meat could be thinking, feeling, or creating. The second being tells the first that they probed the lifeforms and everything - including the brain - is made out of meat. In fact, these suspicious creatures are ''...thinking meat! Conscious meat! Loving meat. Dreaming meat. The meat is the whole deal!''

Option 3: <u>The phrase acts as a noun that is the subject of the sentence.</u>

"Volunteering at the animal shelter in my neighborhood" is a gerund phrase (It begins with a gerund, the "ing" word, and includes others modifiers and objects), and gerund phrases always function as nouns. Therefore, the phrase in the passage acts as a noun, which at the same time is the subject of the sentence since it's what's being discussed.
