Answer:

The type of irony is letter b. dramatic.

Explanation:

Dramatic irony is related to a situation in which the readers know and understand something that the characters themselves don't.

"The Story of an Hour" is a short story by author Kate Chopin. The main character is Mrs. Mallard, who has a heart condition that may kill her in case she gets shocked or surprised. Her sister Josephine and a friend are very careful when giving her the news that, according to a couple of sources, Mr. Mallard has died.

After crying for some time, Mrs. Mallard locks herself up in her room. The dramatic irony in this situation comes from her sister's fear that Mrs. Mallard will "make herself ill" by grieving alone. What the sister doesn't know but the readers do is that Mrs. Mallard is no longer grieving. After looking out the open window in her room, she realizes she is about to be free. Even though she loved her husband dearly, she will be able to decide things for herself from now on.

What is the degree of comparison of the underlined modifier? This is the best omelet I have ever had.
lukranit [14]
Superlative means exaggerated.
Comparative means it is being compared to something else.
Positive is self-explanatory.

Honestly this is a hard one because usually when someone says something is "the best" they are exaggerating. Also when you say something is the best, youare saying that the other things you have tasted aren't as good which compares the omelet. Since your not saying the omelet is bad it is a good (positive) comparison. I think the closest answer is comparative for the reasons above.

Explain why the scene below fails to meet basic workplace safety standards. Ana, an employee at a clothing store, has fallen dow
blagie [28]
Hey there!

We can assume her falling down the stairs was an accident and technically we can blame Ana for it. If not an accident, say that there was some water leaking from a pipe that went on the stairs or someone was cleaning them and left some hazardous slippery chemicals- that would be a violation of basic workplace standards.

However, our real problem here is Ron. He picks up Ana, and instead of calling someone who could help or seeing if someone else had a first aid kit, he uses a paper towel. The problem with this is that the cut could get infected because the paper towel may have bacteria on it. This is the main violation.

Hope this helps

The author starts the passage with this one-word sentence: "Warning!" Why
Debora [2.8K]

Answer:

to entice the reader

Explanation:

you'd need to explore the connotations of the noun 'warning' it connotes deterrence and message . the purpose of an author is usually to spread a message so the author has deliberately started the passage with 'warning' to reassure the reader that they are here to bring the message , it could also be used to emphasise the dramatic his intended audience are as the warning also holds dramatic connotations , it could also allow the reader to relate with the author as they could both be seen as overly dramatic

Please give me the correct answer.Only answer if you're very good at English. Please don't put a link to a website.
Alexandra [31]

I think either excited or confused. Since the first sentence is well, with an exclamation point, I guess I would lean towards excited. It would help to know more of the story.
