Contrast: When two different colors contrast directly, the contrast intensifies the differences between them. Contrast increases the greater the degree of difference and the greater the degree of contact, reaching its maximum contrast when one color is surrounded by another.

The contrast effect is reciprocal as it affects the two intervening colors. All colors in a composition are influenced by the colors they come in contact with.

Vanishing Point: This is the point on the horizon line where all parallel lines converge when viewed in perspective.

In some types of perspective two or more vanishing points are required. In situations like these they may have points on both the horizon line and the vertical line of view. In some cases it is possible for the point to be outside both the horizon and the point of view.

Perspective: A graphic feature that uses the visual effect of converging lines to create the illusion of three-dimensionality of space and shapes when they are represented on a flat surface such as drawing paper.
