Solutions

A sphere has a radius of 7.5 ft. To find the volume we need to use this equation ≥ v=4/3πr³<span>.
</span>
<span>π = ( 3. 14)
</span>
r = <span>7.5
</span>
Calculations

v=4/3πr³

v=4/3<span>π ( 7.5 x 7.5 x 7.5 )

v=4/3</span>π  (<span>421)

v=4/3 (3.14) (421)

v=4/3 (</span><span>1321)

v=1.3 (1321)

v = </span><span>1717.3. </span><span>

<span>
Solutions

</span>A storage tank holds 235,500 in³ of a chemical. The chemical is dispensed to completely fill 25 identical cylindrical containers, each with a radius of 5 inches. <span>

To solve this problem we have to use this equation - </span>V = πr²h. We know the radius is 5 and the volume is 235,500³.

Calculations

V = πr²<span>h
</span>235,500³ = (3.14)(5)²)h
235,500<span>³ = (3.14) (25))h
</span>235,500<span>³ = 78.5
</span>
\frac{235,500}{78.5} \frac{78.5}{78.5}
<span>
235,500 </span>÷ 78.5 = h

h = 3000

We are interested in the dimensions of a certain square. A rectangle has a length of 5 units more than the side of the square an
JulijaS [17]
Lets consider the side of square be 'x' units
So as per data,
Length of rectangle is x+5
Breadth of rectangle is x/2

and also as per data, the areas of rectangle and square are equal.
Area of rectangle = Length * Breadth = (x+5)*x/2 = ( x^{2} +5x)/2 <- equation1
Area of square = Side* Side= x*x = x^{2}  <- equation2

As per given data, Equation1 and equation 2 are equal
so
( x^{2} +5x)/2 = tex] x^{2} [/tex]
x^{2} +5x = 2 x^{2}
2 x^{2} -  x^{2}   = 5x
x^{2}  = 5x
x = 5

So the side of square = 5 units

For Square, both dimensions are equal.
