Name the two transport processes that allow large substances to cross the plasma membrane

Transport of small molecules through the cell membrane can be:

1. Passive transport -no energy required

• Diffusion is the movement of molecules down the gradient (from higher to lower molecule concentration). It can be simple or facilitated with the help of membrane transport channel.

2. Active transport-energy required, against the gradient

• Primary active transport which directly uses ATP as energy source

• Secondary active transport-not direct use of ATP, involves more transport substances

On the other hand, large molecules use different mechanisms for cell membrane transport:

• Exocytosis-transport of the large molecule from the cell; molecules for the transport are packed inside the vesicles which then fuse with the plasma membrane and release their contents to the outside of the cell

• Endocytosis- transport of large molecule from outside the cell to the inside by engulfing it with the cell membrane.

Both of them are type of vesicle active transport.

A farmer uses triazine herbicide to control pigweed in his field. For the first few years, the triazine works well and almost al
zysi [14]

Answer:

The correct option is B) Only triazine-resistant weeds survived and reproduced, so each year more pigweed was triazine-resistant.

Explanation:

With time, the pigweed became resistant to triazine. As we know, according to the theory of natural selection only those species are able to survive and reproduce which are better adapted to live in an environment and adapt to the environmental changes. As the triazine- resistant weeds were better adapted survive and reproduce in the area, it began passing its resistant genes to offsprings. As a result, the population of the pigweed increases.

reasons why we can conclude that the rise of the water in the glass tube is due to root pressure and not transpiration or capill
ycow [4]
The transpiration pull is just one of the mechanisms that explain the movement or translocation of water in plants, particularly water ascent in tall trees. There is no single exacting explanation as yet for the ascent of water but several theories have been proposed. Of these, the one which has gained wide support is the cohesion-tension theory which recognizes the crucial role of transpiration pull as a driving force. These theories are briefly described below.. I dont know maybe this might be helpful
