Immigrants like the Irish, Scottish and others were flooding the U.S. the Irish were especially discriminated against because there were so much Irish coming into the U.S. in hopes of food and work, there weren't that much jobs available so lots of Irish weren't even getting what they were looking for in the U.S. in the first place and they were looked down upon. But hey, we have Saint Patrick's day now so jokes on Americans haha.

Explain why the movement of carbon into the ocean has been increasing since 1850.
iren [92.7K]

Carbon, or carbon dioxide, concentrations in the atmosphere have increased. The burning of fossil fuels is the cause of the increase in carbon or carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere.

More CO2 is dissolving into the ocean as a result of increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere caused by humans. The average pH of the ocean is now around 8.1, which is basic (or alkaline), but as the ocean absorbs more CO2, the pH drops and the ocean becomes more acidic.

Carbon dioxide gas in the atmosphere dissolves into the ocean, causing ocean acidification. This lowers the pH of the water, making the ocean more acidic.
