The Congress of the United States is the bicameral legislature of the U.S. federal government. In this way, it consists of two assemblies; the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Most of the work in Congress is done by the Standing Committee. Such committees assemble on a periodic or occasional basis depending on their purpose and hold any authority or overlooking formerly given them until following standard procedures of the regulatory body disperses the committee.
