China saw western influence heavily in the 19th century. America was starting to make a name for themselves, and influencing those especially in Asia. Because Chinese traditions run deep, this was seen bad. Suddenly the youth were slowly striding away from Chinese traditions and looking to American traditions. This cause the Chinese to become communist, not wanting the foreign influence.
<u>The way foreign imperialism affected government and society in China and Japan in the nineteenth century:</u>
The biggest impact on Japan was that of American imperialism when Marshal Pedro "opened" Japan in 1854. China's imperialism had a negative impact on both the government.
After a US delegation arrived in Japan in 1853, Japan was forced to open its ports. The Chinese people witness China to American nation's military strength awareness. Japan could easily adapt to the influence of the West and eventually contend with the imperial privileges of Western governments in Asia.
In 1894-1895, in fighting against and defeating China in Korea, Japan disrupted the existing global order in Asia, where China was the highest authority and Japan a delegated strength.
