Use the PEMDAS rule. So first do whatever is in the parenthesis. 8 squared is 64 so 65-64 is 1 and 1-2 is -1

You would first do 13x5 which equals 65, then you would 8x8 which equals 64, then you would subtract 65-64 which equals 1, finally you would subtract 2-1, which equals 1, im pretty sure im right, but dont be afraid to tell me if im wrong :)

Use the correct order of operations to calculate5 1/2 * 4 1/2 -7/2/ 2 1/3
IgorC [24]
If there are multiple operations at the same level on the order of operations off from left to right and you work like this first noticed that there are no parentheses or exponents so we moved to multiplication and division with any sense of parentheses

the first term of an arithmetic sequence is 10 and the sum of the first five terms is 250,find the sequence
Crazy boy [7]

Answer:

The  sequence  is:

10, 30, 50, 70, 90.....................

Step-by-step explanation:

We have,

First term (a) = 10

Common difference (d) = ?

Sum of first 5 terms (S_{5}) = 250

or, \frac{n}{2} [{2a+(n-1)d}] = 250

or, \frac{5}{2} [2*10 + 4d]=250

or, \frac{5}{2} * 4[5+d]=250

or, 10(5 + d) =250

or, 5 + d = 25

∴ d = 20

Now,

2nd term = a + d = 10 + 20 = 30

3rd term = a + 2d = 10 + 2*20 = 10 + 40 = 50

4th term = a + 3d = 10 + 3*20 = 10 + 60 = 70

5th term = a + 4d = 10 + 4*20 = 10 + 80 = 90

Which of the following are identities?
podryga [215]

Answer:

A. III only

Step-by-step explanation:

In mathematics, an identity is one of the characteristics of algebraic expressions.

Given variable a and b in an algebraic expression, an identity is defined as an equality that remains the same no matter the values that we choose for either variable a or b.

Identity in mathematics makes it very easy to solve algebraic expressions. The two sides of an identity in an algebra can easily be exchanged for each other.

In the above question, we are given 3 Options.

I) 3(5 + 2x) = 15 + 6x

II) y = x + 3

III) (x² - y²) = (x + y) (x - y)

Option I) 3(5 + 2x) = 15 + 6x

Is showing distributive property in mathematics.

Distributive property is :

a(b + c) = ab + ac

Option I is not an identity , therefore it is wrong.

Option II) y = x + 3 is just an algebraic expression.

Only Option III is an identity. This is because it follows the rule of

(a² - b²) = (a + b) (a - b)

We can prove and confirm this be solving the algebraic expression

(x + y) (x - y)

We expand the bracket

x² - xy +xy - y²

x² - y²

Therefore, option A is the correct option.

 The denominator of a fraction in simplest form is greater than the numerator by 3. If 7 is added to the numerator, and 5 added
jok3333 [9.3K]
So.. if we take the numerator to be say "a", then the denominator will be "a+3"

\bf \cfrac{a}{a+3}\textit{ if we add }\frac{1}{2}\textit{ we get then }\cfrac{a+7}{a+3+5}
\\\\\\
thus\implies \cfrac{a}{a+3}+\cfrac{1}{2}=\cfrac{a+7}{a+8}\\\\
-----------------------------\\\\
\cfrac{a+3+2a}{2(a+3)}=\cfrac{a+7}{a+8}\implies \cfrac{3a+3}{2a+6}=\cfrac{a+7}{a+8}
\\\\\\
3a^2+24a+3a+24=2a^2+14a+6a+42
\\\\\\
a^2+7a-18=0\implies (a+9)(a-2)=0
\\\\\\
a=
\begin{cases}
2\implies &\frac{2}{5}\\\\
-9\implies &\frac{3}{2}
\end{cases}

either of those two fractions will do
