The Puritans introduced many concepts to the world. Two of the most important principles that they introduced were:
1. Separation of church & state (aka, religious freedom) 2. Hard work! The Puritans were heavily influenced by John Calvin and the Calvinist teachings. The harder you worked each day, the more faithful and close you became to God. Being frugal, laborious, and maintaining the importance of one's education are all concepts that are significant in American culture today.
