The theme of Christina Georgina Rossetti's poem "Helen Grey" is, beauty isn't everything. We know this to be true because the Rossetti describes Helen Grey as "handsome" and "proud" but also says "But so you miss that modest charm / Which is the surest charm of all." This shows the reader that Helen Grey is very attractive and takes pride in her attraction. However, she has let her beauty go to her head, resulting in an unpleasant personality that no man has found her attractive. The last four lines of the poem "Helen Grey" support the its main theme by drawing the reader's attention to the reality of age and time. Time will continue to go by causing Helen to grow old, wrinkly, and gray. Time will pass and with it, Helen's beauty shall pass too. If she does not change her ways, she will be left with and unattractive personality, and face.

What is the purpose of the very short scene of Act 4, scene 2
Feliz [49]

Act IV, scene 2 takes the focus of the play from one that is magical and related to an unbalanced love to a play-inside-a-play.

What is a Scene?

A scene in literature is a section or segment in a play, book, or movie. It is also used to describe sections in a continuous part of an opera.

Hence it is to be noted that the purpose of Scene II of the 4th Act of Midsummer Nights' Dream makes light the theme of the story.

What is significant about the language in this excerpt from Our Town? Select all that apply. It lacks specificity. It creates an
aivan3 [116]

This question is missing the excerpt. I've found the complete question online. It is as follows:

"STAGE MANAGER:

Well. Now we're ready to get on with the wedding.

There are a lot of things to be said about a wedding; there are a lot of thoughts that go on during a wedding. We can't get them all into one wedding, naturally, and especially not into a wedding at Grover's Corners, where they're awfully plain and short."

What is significant about the language in this excerpt from Our Town? Select all that apply.

A) It lacks specificity.

B) It creates an enthusiastic tone.

C) It makes weddings seem dull and uninspiring.

D) It encourages the audience to make inferences about weddings.

Answer:

A) It lacks specificity.

C) It makes weddings seem dull and uninspiring.

D) It encourages the audience to make inferences about weddings.

Explanation:

First, when the stage manager says there are lots of things to be said about a wedding and a lot of thoughts that go on during a wedding, he is not being specific. Quite the opposite, he is being as vague as can be. What things? What thoughts? Are they good or bad? By being so vague, he encourages the audience to make inferences about weddings. We begin to imagine the things, the thoughts, and the reasons behind them.

Second, the stage manager makes weddings - especially the ones in Grover's Corners - sound boring, colorless - dull and uninspiring. He says they are "plain and short", meaning there isn't much fun about the ceremony, nor much celebration.
