<span>volume = l x w x h</span>

<span> to increase volume by 3 you would have  3*l*w*h </span>

<span>so 3*l*w*h= l*2*w* x *h  ( x is the scale factor)

</span><span> cancel out the l w and h on both sides

3 = 2x

Divide both sides by 2

 x = 3/2 = 1.5

</span><span> the height should increase by a factor of 1.5</span>

Answer:

<u><em>3/2 or 3 over 2</em></u>

Step-by-step explanation:

A cereal manufacturer decides to offer a new family-sized box based on the regular-sized box.

They want the volume of the family-sized box to be three times the volume of the regular-sized box. However, they want the length of the family-sized box to be the same as the regular-sized box.

If they decide to double the width to create the family-sized box, by what factor must they increase the height?

Find the savings plan balance after 3 years with an APR of 7% and monthly payments of $150.
Citrus2011 [14]

Answer:

The balance is $5989.5

Step-by-step explanation:

The savings plan balance is given by the following formula:

A = P*\left[\frac{(1 + \frac{APR}{n})^{n*Y} - 1}{\frac{APR}{n}}\right]

In which A is the savings plan balance, P is the monthly payment, APR is the annual percentage rate(decimal), n is the number of payments per year and Y is the number of years.

In this problem, we have that

Find the savings plan balance after 3 years with an APR of 7% and monthly payments of $150.

So we have to find A when P = 150, APR = 0.07, n = 12, Y = 3.

So

A = P*\left[\frac{(1 + \frac{APR}{n})^{n*Y} - 1}{\frac{APR}{n}}\right]

A = 150*\left[\frac{(1 + \frac{0.07}{12})^{12*3} - 1}{\frac{0.07}{12}}\right]

A = 5989.5

The balance is $5989.5

A retiree invests $9,000 in a savings plan that pays 5% per year. What will the account balance be at the end of the first year
densk [106]
Using the formula I=Pxrxt
P is the principal amount, $9000.00.
r is the interest rate, 5% per year, or in decimal form, 5/100=0.05.
t is the time involved, 1....year(s) time periods.
So, t is 1....year time periods.
To find the simple interest, we multiply 9000 × 0.05 × 1 to get that:

The interest is: $450.00
So the balance will be $9450.00 at the end of the first year.

You wonder if one's age is independent of whether or not one's willingness to wear masks in public. You ask 100 people whether t
antiseptic1488 [7]

Answer:

The statistical conclusion is:

a) Your results are significant; one's willingness to wear masks is not independent of one's age.

Step-by-step explanation:

From this experiment,

The null hypothesis is established as:

H 0 = one's willingness to wear masks is independent of one's age.

The alternate hypothesis is established as:

H 1 = one's willingness to wear masks is not independent of one's age.

In statistics, if the absolute value of the test statistic is greater than the critical value, we declare statistical significance and reject the null hypothesis.

Since the test statistic = 16.5, which is higher than the critical value of 7.82, this establishes statistical significance.  Thus, the null hypothesis is rejected.

Therefore, the statistical conclusion is that one's willingness to wear masks is not independent of one's age.
