we know that

The equation in vertex form of a vertical parabola is equal to

y=a(x-h)^{2}+k

where

(h,k) is the vertex of the parabola

and the axis of symmetry is equal to the x-coordinate of the vertex

so

x=h -----> equation of the axis of symmetry

In this problem we have

y-4x=7-x^{2}

Convert to vertex form

Group terms that contain the same variable, and move the constant to the opposite side of the equation

y-7=-x^{2}+4x

y-7=-(x^{2}-4x)

Complete the square. Remember to balance the equation by adding the same constants to each side

y-7-4=-(x^{2}-4x+4)

y-11=-(x^{2}-4x+4)

Rewrite as perfect squares

y-11=-(x-2)^{2}

y=-(x-2)^{2}+11

the vertex is the point (2,11)

therefore

the answer is

The axis of symmetry is

x=2

Y - 4 x = 7 - x²
y = - x ² + 4 x + 7 ( this is a quadratic function )
x = - b / 2 a,  where: a = - 1 and  b = 4
x = - 4 / ( - 2 ) = 2
Answer:
The axis of symmetry for the graph is x = 2

Finding Side Lengths
zheka24 [161]

Answer:

  • x = 2.5
  • y = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

As the two figure are the image and pre-image of a dilation.

Considering the left sided triangle is original and right sided triangle ( smaller one) is the image.

As one of the sides of the left triangle (original figure) is 4 in. And the corresponding length of the side on the right triangle (image of the figure) is 2 in.

It means the image of the side (2 in) is obtained when the side (4 in) of the original object is dilated by a scale factor of 1/2. In other words, the side of the image (2 in) is obtained multiplying the side (4 in) of original figure by 1/2. i.e. 4/2 = 2 in

Lets determine the missing side of the right side triangle by the same rule.

As the original object has one of the sides is 5 in and the corresponding side of the image has x in. As the original figure is dilated by a scale factor of 1/2. so the missing side of x will be: x = 5/2 = 2.5

So, the value of x will be 2.5

Similarly, the original object has one of the sides with length (y + 1 in). As the As the original figure is dilated by a scale factor of 1/2. As the corresponding length of the side of the image triangle is 3 in.

so

y + 1 = 2(3)         ∵ 3 in (image side) is multiplied by 2

y + 1 = 6

y = 6 - 1

y = 5

So, the value of y = 5

Therefore,

  • x = 2.5
  • y = 5

Graph the solution set to the system
Y<15-0.41
Vlad [161]

Answer:

The graph in the attached figure

Step-by-step explanation:

The correct question is

Graph the solution set to the system

Y<(1/5)x-0.41

we have

y

The solution is the shaded area below the dashed line y=\frac{1}{5}x-0.41

The slope of the dashed line is positive m=\frac{1}{5}

The y-intercept of the dashed line is (0,-0.41)

The x-intercept of the dashed line is (2.05,0)

To find out the solution set, draw the intercepts and connect them to plot the dashed line, and shade the area below the dashed line

The graph in the attached figure

A square pyramid has a base with side lengths each measuring 40 inches. The pyramid is 21 inches tall, with a slant height of 29
yulyashka [42]
For solving of the area of a square pyramid, we can use the formula below:
A=a²+2a sqrt (a²/4 +h²)
where s for the slant height, r for the a/2, where a is the side length and h for the height
Substitute the values,
A=40²+(2*40) SQRT (40²/4 +21²)
A=3920
The answer is 3920 for the area of the square pyramid.
