Answer:

1. It blows rain clouds away

2. It spreads sand to other regions.

3. It can spark fires through the wind that might burn crops and kill

animals leading to desertification.

Explanation:

Desertification is the means whereby land is degraded in areas such as the arid, semi-arid and sub-humid lands due to reasons such as human factors and climate change.

Also, we look at the Sahel as the area that is located along with the areas of the Sahara desert that has rainfall withing 200 to 600 mm as average within a year.

However, the harmattan contributes to desertification in the Sahel with the explanations below:

  • Harmattan blows rain clouds away throw the winds and the dust
  • Spreads sand to areas of other regions by the winds that blow during Harmattan.
  • Harmattan wind can spark of fire which can detroy lots of crops and bring about desertification.

  • Introduction of machines in the textile industry
  • First factory
  • Mass production using iron in coal-fired furnaces
  • Use of steam engines

Explanation:

During the 18th century, improved agricultural techniques and extensive fencing of fields and pastures increased agribusiness production in England.
