Answer:

General Lee failed during his last stand at the Appomattox Court House because his troops were weak and surrounded.

Explanation:

The Battle of Appomattox Court House was the last battle of importance during the Civil War.

General Robert E. Lee was pressed because General Ulysses S. Grant had succeeded in destroying his supply of supplies in Appomattox. The last chance was to get to Lynchburg, where there were more supplies. However, between him and Lynchburg, there was the Northern cavalry. Lee did not want to capitulate yet. He felt that there was a chance to escape if Grant's infantry would not be mobilized. Lee's troops attacked, but after encountering infantry, Lee realized that his position was hopeless and agreed to negotiations.

After being defeated by General Ulysses S. Grant, General Robert E. Lee surrendered with his entire Southern Army army on April 9, 1865 at the Appomattox Courthouse.

Question 12
GalinKa [24]

Answer: Judicial Review

Explanation:

By the process of Judicial Review, the Supreme Court - as the custodian of the Constitution - can analyze a law to find out if it goes against the principles enshrined in the Constitution.

If they find that the law in question has gone against the Constitution, they can declare that law to be null and void. For instance, the Supreme Court found in Brown v. Board of Education that segregated schools were unconstitutional and this led to schools being desegregated nationwide.
