The Tallmadge Amendment was an proposed amendment to the Missouri bill that attempt to restrict residents from bringing slaves in Missouri.

This amendment never was passed but was highly fought for. In the end the Missouri Compromise was passed that DID ban slavery within the borders of the Louisiana Purchase.
