The case McCulloch v. Maryland is a case decided by the US Supreme Court that held that Congress has some powers derived from Article I, Section 8 that is implied.

The case Gibbons v. Ogden expanded the powers of the Congress and decided that it had the power to regulate any aspect of commerce that crossed state lines.

<u>Both of these decisions shows that Marshall’s ruling was known for his judicial activism and the different way he interpreted the Constitution gave more power to the Federal government than to states. </u>
