Nearest hundredth is the second digit after the decimal point.

If the digit after hundredth is greater than or equal to 5, add 1 to hundredth and else remove the digit.

If the digit after hundredth is less than 5, the number remain same.

Number is 8.293.

The third digit of right of decimal point is 3.

The second digit after decimal point is 9 which is greater than 5

So add 1 to 9  means 2 is round to 3.

Rounding to the nearest hundredths is 8.390.
