The answe is C because its like compairing it to class subjects; the subject of science class will always teach you the topic of science. In literature, the topic sentence will state the subject of the literary piece or will give you context clues into what the subject will be. I hope this helped :)

Which pair of uses of figurative language from "The Caged Bird" help support the extended metaphor of freedom versus oppression?
weeeeeb [17]

Answer:

The caged bird sings; the free bird thinks

Explanation:

The pair of uses of figurative language from "The Caged Bird" that help support the extended metaphor of freedom versus oppression is "the caged bird sings; the free bird thinks".

Metaphor is a figure of speech which actually describes an action or thing in a way that is not literally true but it helps to make a comparison.

The use of "the caged bird sings" and "the free bird thinks" shows the comparison of the caged bird and the free bird. It tends to show what the personality does when oppressed and when free. They show an extended metaphor of freedom versus oppression.

"The Caged Bird" is a poem by Maya Angelou which is concerned with imprisonment and an inner urge for freedom.

Which dictionary definition of inaugurates BEST applies to its use in the sentence.
inn [45]
"Inaugurates" most often means to introduce or to start something, for example a policy or period. It can also specifically refer to admitting someone into public office (i.e. "We will inaugurate the new president next week"), or signifying the first use of a public organization or project (i.e. "Will you be attending the park's inauguration on May 1st?").
