The Confederation of the Iroquois had a very interesting economy. The economy of Iroquois is based on agriculture. They grow the "three daughters": corn, beans, and squash. The Iroquois have a common ownership of the land. Work is divided by sex and age; some had special positions as chief or delegate. They traded operations using Wampum accounts as a form of currency.
Most of the Iroquois festivals coincided with events in agriculture such as the maple festival, corn planting, green corn, and the Thanksgiving harvest festival. They remember these events using wampum accounts that stimulate memory.
