A stronger national goverment was needed
The US constitution establishes six year terms for
members of the senate in order to <u>“create
stability”.</u>
The six-year Senate term <span>was supposed to
create a balance - stable enough to be secured in their position without having
to face re-election every two years, but with sufficient turnover to push out outmoded
ideas.</span>
It was created to investigate alleged disloyalty and subversive activities on the part of private citizens, public employees, and organizations suspected of having communist ties.
