 <span>They are fundamentally different, for a very simple reason: Khrushchev was a dedicated Stalinist, who sought ONLY to remove the threat of murder from the Stalinist system, Gorbachev was a dedicated communist, prepared to delve deep into the country's communist past to find a 'communist' solution to the problems of the USSR. 

Khrushchev's main agricultural reforms were: 
Collective farms were paid more for grain and taxes on peasants were lowered and the amount of grain requisitioned was reduced therefore more was left for farms to sell. </span>
