4. Leaders in China and Japan decided to cut off contact with other countries. They closed their borders and turned inward. Explain their reasons for doing so and name at least two results of their decisions.

As it was said in number two, Japan had to cut off contact with other countries and foreigners because most of Japanese people converted to Christianity. Tokugawa was threatened by how many Japanese people converted to another foreign religion because Japan's true religion was Shintoism. Now, China's reasoning for cutting off their contact with other countries is because of isolationism. Isolationism was the same thing that Japan went through because of foreigners. After the voyage of Zheng He, The Ming dynasty's foreign policy in China grown to be isolationist. Zhu Yuanzhang was having to be the first emperor to ever put forward an idea of banning all maritime shipping on 1371. Without a little control, The Qing Dynasty followed behind the Ming dynasty and they prolonged the idea of Isolationist policies. I think that Japan did not want other people of different religions from different countries, neither did China foreign ships coming to them and their country.
