Answer:

The United States developed long-range missiles, or ICBMs.

The Soviet Union launched Sputnik, the first artificial satellite.

Congress passed the “Space Act” to create NASA to get Americans into space.

The United States tested its first hydrogen bomb and the Soviet Union responded.

Explanation:

There was a Cold War between the United States and Russia, or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, USSR. However, the USSR collapsed after the revolution by the people to pave way to Russia. Soon after the World War II, there was a race for supremacy between America and Russia. This resulted in the increase in weapon production, technology, and other activities. It even resulted in the near war break out known as the Cuban Missile crisis where Russia had missiles in the Cuban State close to the United States.
