Answer: Oil.
Japan wanted southern Indochina's supply of oil as they were starved for it and unable to maintain their military. On the same day they attacked Pearl Harbour they also attacked the Philippines to gain access to this oil. The attack on Pearl Harbour was to prevent any armada of US ships from retaking the Philippines, which they succeeded at doing.

Hope I helped and please rate my answer :)

Compare the economic systems of the North and the South in the 30 years before the Civil War and explain how those systems affec
egoroff_w [7]

Answer:

In the years before the Civil War, the North had surged forward with industrial production and this led to the emergence of a large urban population and indeed a larger population than the South as many people came to work there. The North also had a lot of rail lines to transport their goods and ship building yards to send goods abroad.

This was in contrast to the South that was mostly rural and depended a lot of plantations. Rail lines were not as much and industry compared to the North was significantly backward. Their population was also significantly less than the North.

This influenced the outcome of the war in Union favor because the Union was able to field more soldiers who were also better equipped and could be moved around the country relatively quickly to support multiple fronts. The ships built by the North were able to blockade the South and deny them any international support as a result.

What were Warren G. Harding’s strengths and weaknesses as president?
ELEN [110]

Pros: Harding’s presidency was overshadowed by the criminal activities of some of his cabinet members and other government officials, although he himself was not involved in any wrongdoing. An Ohio native and Republican, Harding was a successful newspaper publisher who served in the Ohio legislature and the U.S. Senate. In 1920, he won the general election in a landslide, promising a “return to normalcy” after the hardships of World War I (1914-1918).

Cons: After Harding’s death, the Teapot Dome Scandal and other instances of corruption came to light, damaging his reputation. Pretty much his reputation got destroyed when he died.
