We use the verb ser to talk about permanent or lasting attributes. In this way, this verb stands for descriptions, occupations, characteristics, time, origin and relationships. The goal of this exercise is to write five complete sentences using descriptions (One for me and four for other friends). In this exercise, we will use the simple present. Therefore:

FIRST.

Yo soy muy inteligente.

Soy is the conjugation of the verb ser for the First-Person Singular (yo - I) in the simple present. In English, the meaning of this sentence is:

I am very intelligent.

SECOND.

Alejandro es alto y moreno.

es is the conjugation of the verb ser for the Third-Person Singular (he - él). In English, the meaning of this sentence is:

Alejandro is tall and brown.

THIRD.

Jane es preciosa.

In this case, the person is a woman. The conjugation remains the same es even though Jane can be replaced by the feminine pronoun ella (she) that stands for the Third-Person Singular as well. In English, the meaning of this sentence is:

Jane is beautiful.

FOURTH.

Mi amigo Jesús es un caballero

In this case, Mi amigo Jesús can be replaced by the pronoun él (he). As in the second case, es  is the conjugation of the verb ser that matches the Third-Person Singular. In English, this sentence means:

My friend Jesus is a gentleman

FIFTH.

Mis amigas Ariana y Caroly son delgadas

Mis amigas Ariana y Caroly can be replaced by the pronoun ellas (they) that stands for the Third-Person Plural. Thus, son is the conjugation of the verb ser for the Third-Person Plural. So, this sentence means:

My friends Ariana and Caroly are thin
