I believe that it is B.My sister sat down, opened the book and read several pages to us is correct because:
A. and seperate two phrases so you can't put a comma there
B. good!
C. you can't put a comma before and after and becuase it doesn't make sense to me
D. you have to put a comma after down to seperate to phrases
