Reformation I think, Marin Luther wrote an essay and stapled it to the church and basically told the pope to leave people alone, that Christians don't need the pope, fathers, or anything they can find God on their own. and they didn't need to be ruled by the church and the church shouldnt have so much political power to the point they are stronger then the king
