The correct answer is A, as President Kennedy sent more money, military equipment and advisers when the Viet Cong seemed to be winning the war in South Vietnam.

In Southeast Asia, Kennedy continued what Eisenhower had begun, using limited military force to combat the HoChi Minh troops. Proclaiming a war against the spread of communism, he established programs to help the unstable government of South Vietnam by providing political, economic and military assistance, which included sending 16,000 soldiers and Special Forces as military advisers increasing the presence to 60,000 soldiers. Kennedy agreed to use "free zones to shoot", Napalm, Agent Orange and jet planes. The United States became increasingly involved in the area until its armed forces were sent to the Vietnam War during the Johnson administration.
