DEAR UNCLE,
I hope that you are all fine back at home,I wish to let you know that I am now settled in my new school and I will try my best to Excel in all subjects.
know the rules and regulations are very tight, I'd like to tell you that I have already adjusted to them and I am quite fine; imagine that we wake up at 5 in the morning, tidy ourselves up, check breakfast and begin classes at 6 am.At first I thought it was a punishment but now I am used to it and even enjoy the prep session.from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. we do our own preparation before classes begin officially at 8:15 a.m.
Here nobody tells you to work hard but the competition is very stiff every man to sit for the end of term exam and Maxwell out during parade where will line up according to performance.one cannot simply stand the embarrassment of event being the last. that's why I'm writing to you to ask for some money so I can get the necessary equipment to do my upcoming exam.
thanks a lot for your loving care, concern and support you have given me. you are the best uncle and may God bless you.
YOUR LOVING NIECE,
GIDEON
A. I guess that the character from The Importance of Being Earnest that resembles Wilde most would be Algernon.
He is flamboyant, and a party-maniac, and loves to make fun of other people who are not like him. Wilde was like that in his real life too - he was a Victorian man but completely against that period, and he loved to express himself in a manner that would often weird out other people. Algernon is Wilde's voice in the play - he comments on other characters and criticizes them for their exaggerated Victorian values that Wilde hated with a passion.
B. Verbal irony is a sarcastic way of saying opposite of what you actually mean. Dramatic irony is when the readers know something that the characters in the play are unaware of. Situational irony occurs when expectations of what is going to happen and what actually happens do not match.
As for the examples, I don't have the play on me, just use these definitions and find them for yourself. :)
