The Persian Empire consisted of a series that lived in the region of Iran, from the 6th century BC to the 20th century AD. It was one of the longest lasting empires in the history of humanity. Cyrus the Great founded the empire around 550 BC.  Cyrus the Great defeated many enemies such as Babylon and Lyddia and made them join the Persian Empire. The Empire was huge. It stretched from the Balkan peninsula as far as the Indus Valley.
