What is the central idea of the letter to the editor?
Tatiana [17]

I would think its D. because in the story "Letter to the editor" How are mixed-use areas different from what we have now? Let me tell you. Our city currently has a dense downtown area and then a massive amount of sprawl reaching out in every direction—the sprawl takes up seventy-five percent of the city’s land. Urban sprawl, the spreading of large developments of housing and shopping areas around a city’s center, has many negative cultural and environmental effects. Sprawl increases traffic congestion along highways. The residents who live in these faraway suburbs often work downtown, where the majority of businesses are still located. They have to undertake long commutes to and from work every day, which limits their time with family and friends and increases their time alone on the road. These longer commutes also result in increased air pollution that can lead to smog problems for the city.

"The Interlopers" does not follow a traditional linear plot structure. What elements cause the plot structure to be nonlinear? H
yarga [219]

Answer:

Ulrich and Georg Znaeym are the two explorers who went to forest to explore the land. When they move into deep into the forest they miss the way and both of them are lost. They start losing control over themselves and fear overcomes their confidence. They feel frightened in the dark and suddenly Ulrich sees something in the dark. These were wolves but they did not knew who they were. The climax is not really clear and the author leaves it to the reader to imagine the climax their own way.

Explanation:

The interlopers is written by Saki in 1919. This is a short story whose plot revolves around travelers who are lost in Forest. The author has not ended the story with a clear climax. The ending is left for the readers to imagine the way they want it to end. This is usually a strategy of the authors to indulge the audience and readers into the story.

Explain how an author uses figurative language to communicate theme.
andriy [413]

Answer:

Remember that figurative language are figures of speech that readers used to convey a message in a story. Some of these languages contain similes, metaphors, personifications, hyperbole, etc... In this case, you would use "metaphors and similes to convey the message of a theme in a story, that's because metaphors are things that compare each other without using like or as, and similes compare two things using the words like or as." For example, "always fly like a bird" is a simile while giving you the main idea to go for your dreams because you can't actually fly like a bird and you use figurative language to find out the main idea or theme.

Hope this helps.
