Of all the works of german-british composer Georg Friedrich Händel (1685-1759), The Messiah is the most famous. Handel composed this Oratory during the summer of 1741 in just three weeks. Very few people do not know the Messiah, or have not heard and sung at least one of his choirs at one time or another. There are many reasons why it is considered the most popular musical work in the world; The work contains 51 movements divided into 3 parts, lasting between about 2h 15min and 2h 30min.
