The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The cause for movement from river valley civilizations to early industrial centers was natural disasters such as floods or earthquakes as well as invasions from other city-states.

Early civilizations established next to rivers for the many advantages it represented. After many years of being nomads, humans learned agriculture techniques, settled in these places and started to grow crops during the Neolithic or Agriculture Revolution. One of the earliest or the earliest civilization registered by historians were the Sumerians. They settled in between the Rivers Tigris and Euphrates. Another important early civilization were the Egyptians that settled in next to the Nile River.

Why are towns more likely to be found in the new england colonies
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Towns were most likely to be found in the New England colonies because that was where the Puritans first settled.

The Puritans first settled around Cape Cod and continued to expand from there. While they originally were going to settle in Virginia and even had a charter for it, the strong winds and storms while aboard the Mayflower caused them to lose which direction they were going, making them inevitably land on Cape Cod.

Not only this, but the New England colonies were favored because of the climate. The climate in the New England colonies was not as hot as the Southern colonies, but the soil was not as fertile. New England also had very good harbors, was very inclusive, and many people did not hold prejudice towards other types of people.
