1. An elf, a dwarf, a hobbit, a wizard, and a man are sitting in a line. How many different ways can they sit if the elf and the dwarf insist on sitting next to each other?

a. 6 ways
b. 48 ways
c. 36 ways
d. 12 ways
e. 24 ways

elf, dwarf, hobbit, wizar, man = 5 characters

Treat first elf and dwarf as one unique character, due to they will sit next to each other.

So, calculate the number of different ways 4 can sit, i.e permutations of 4 = 4! = 4*3*2*1 = 24 ways.

Given thath elf and dwarf can exchage their position between them, the above quantity has to be multiplied by 2:

24 * 2 = 48.

Answer: option b) 48 ways

2. How many ways can you order a hamburger if you can order it with or without cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, or onions?

a. 10
b. 32
c. 64
d. 5

with or without cheese => 2 options
with or without lettuce => 2 options
                        tomatoes => 2 options
                        pickles => 2 options
                        onions  => 2 options

=> 2*2*2*2*2 = 32 ways.

answer: option b) 32

Can anyone answer this question please
6[y-2]/7-12=2[y-7]/3
Kaylis [27]

Answer:

y =47.5.

Step-by-step explanation:

First eliminate the fractions by multiplying through by the LCM of 7 and 3 which is 21:

21* 6[y-2]/7-21*12 = 21*2[y-7]/3

18(y - 2) - 252 = 14(y - 7)

18y -36 - 252 = 14y - 98

18y - 14y = -98 + 36 + 252

4y = 190

y = 190/4

y = 47.5.

Write 2350 million in standard form
AleksAgata [21]

we know that

Standard Form is also known as Scientific Notation, is a method of writing numbers that accommodates value excessively large or small to be suitably written in Standard Decimal Notation

in this problem we have

2,350\ million

Remember that

1\ million=1,000,000

so

2,350\ million=2,350*1,000,000=2,350,000,000

convert to standard form

2,350,000,000=2.35*10^{9}

therefore

the answer is

2.35*10^{9}

Write a linear equation given the point and slope or two points.
attashe74 [19]

Answer:

1) y = -2x - 1

2) y = -3/4 + 3

3) y = 4x + 9

4) y = - 5/3x - 2

Step-by-step explanation:

b = y - m*x

1) (-7,13) and slope: -2

b = 13 - (-2)*(-7)

b = 13 - 14

b = -1

2) (4,6) lope = -3/4

b = 6 - (-3/4)*(-4)

b = 6 - 3

b = 3

y = -3/4x + 3

3) (-5,-11) and (3,-7)

Slope: (1 - - 11)/(-2 - - 5) = 12/3

= 4

b = -11 - (4) (-5) = 9

b = 9

4) slope = (-7 - 8)/(3- - 6)

= -15/9 = - 5/3

b = 8 - (-5/3)*(-6)

b = 8 - 10

b = -2
