Answer:

The National Kickball Association (NKA) is a group that sets up kickball leagues for adults across the United States.

Explanation:

Parentheses can be used to enclose an abbreviation for a term following the written-out term, when used for the first time in a text. The parentheses should follow the written-out term in order to explain how the term is abbreviated. You should not use BOTH parentheses and commas to set apart an explanation or abbreviation. Which pair of sentences would be most appropriate to combine using a conjunction? Question 17 options: Grandpa says he was an av
lidiya [134]

The answer is:

My mother is very tall but my father is even taller.

Conjunctions join clauses, words and phrases and they are usually used to avoid a sequence of short sentences. For example, and, but, and or.

In this case, the most suitable sentences to combine with a conjunction like "but" are the ones whose subjects are related (mother and father) and whose predicates have a similar structure: both describe height and one has a comparative form of the adjective tall, so they can be easily joined.

In at least 150 words, explain how the word choice in Rukeyser's "Poem" helps the author to establish a theme in the text. Use d
VARVARA [1.3K]

Answer:

"I lived in the first century of world wars" is the opening line of "Poem" by Muriel Rukeyser (1913-1980) an American poet and political activist. Her best-known poems are about social justice, equality and feminism. Her choice of words establishes her anti-war theme and her efforts to oppose war through her poetry:

"Slowly I would get to pen and paper,

Make my poems for others unseen and unborn.

In the day I would be reminded of those men and women,

Brave, setting up signals across vast distances,

Considering a nameless way of living, of almost not imagined values."

She felt her poetry, which would outlive her, would be a message to those "unseen and unborn" who could work to promote peace and justice.

"We would try by any means

To reach the limits of ourselves, to reach beyond ourselves,

To let go the means, to wake."

Here Rukeyser was passing on the baton, as it were, to the generations "beyond ourselves" in the hope that they would be more purposeful peacemakers.
