How did the concept of the Jewish God change as the Hebrew civilization grew and progressed through history?

History

NNADVOKAT [17]4 years ago

Answer:

The Jewish God, which was later adopted as a deity by Christianity and, with broader modifications, by Islam, underwent a series of modifications in its conception and its influence on men throughout the scriptures.

Thus, at the beginning of them, God showed himself as a supreme authoritarian being, who delegated his Ten Commandments to men, which had to be strictly fulfilled, and whose non-observance would be the cause of punishment and suffering for people.

But with the passage of history, the scriptures showed an evolution in the concept of this God, becoming a much more understanding, benevolent and positive deity. Thus, this God went from being a punishing divinity to a divinity based on the forgiveness of sins and the will to guide men on the path of goodness.
