When a clayey soil has more water content than a sandy soil , the direction of water flow is determined as -

Explanation:

It becomes difficult , since , clay has a property by which the particles stick to each other very strongly as water is added to it .

But in case of  clayey soil is compact and not loosely kept , now , to determine the flow of direction is easy since the clayey soil makes a compact surface and water flows on it as if flowing on a perfect surface with comparatively less absorption than the sandy soil .
