Twice a number plus twice a second number is 310.
2x + 2y = 310

The difference between the numbers is 55.
x-y = 55

Divide the first equation by 2 to get a 3rd equation:
x+y=155

Add the second and third equations together:
x-y=55
x+y=155
2x=210
x=105

Put x=105 into the second equation to get:
105-y=55
y=50

So you're answers are x=105 and y=50.

Ten children measured how high they could jump. The results they recorded, in inches, were as follows: 8, 9, 8, 6, 8, 12, 9, 10,
Lorico [155]

Answer:

b) 9 in

Step-by-step explanation:

To find median arrange the data in ascending order and count the number of data's. if the total number of data is odd number, then (n/2)th term is the median.

If the total number of data is even, then Average of (n/2)th term and (n/2)+1 th term is the median

Ascending order:

6, 8, 8 , 8 , 9 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 16

total = 10. so even number

Median = average of 5th term and 6th term

             =(9+9)/2

             = 18/2

              = 9

mr morris needs two students to help with a demonstration for her class of 12 girls and 14 boys. She randomly chooses two studen
IRISSAK [1]
The class starts out with 26 students, of whom 12 are girls and, perhaps unlike Mr Morris, are sure of it. The probability of the first random choice being a girl is 12/26. If successful, there are now 25 students left, of whom 11 are girls. The probability of a girl on the 2nd random choice is 11/25. The probability that BOTH random choices are successful is (12/26) x (11/25). That's (132/650), or about 20.31% (rounded).

Whats the value of u+5v-w,if u=6, and w=9?
Vitek1552 [10]
To solve this we need only substitute values of u and w, and then calculate.

u+5v-w = 6 + 5v - 9 = 5v +6 - 9 = 5v - 3
