Solve each equation, if possible. Write irrational numbers in simplest radical form. Describe the strategy you used to get your

solution and tell why you chose that strategy. x^2+4=0 Problem 1 Hint: directions say if possible (so as you solve think about a step that you get to that prevents you from solving for the final answer). Explain your thoughts. x^2+x-6=0 Problem 2 Hint: Factor the equation and then solve to get 2 answers using the zero product property x^2-6x+7=0 Problem 3 Hint: factor using the completing the square method

Problem 1: x^2 + 4 = 0 , x^2 = -4 , this problem has no real solution because x = 2i which is an imaginary number

problem 2: x^2 +x -6 = 0 ,  (x + 3)(x - 2) =0 , x = 2 or x = -3

problem 3: x^2 -6x +7 =0 , (x^2 -6x +9) - 2 =0 , (x - 3)^2 = 2 , x-3 = √2 , x = 3+√2  or x - 3 = -√2 , x = 3 - √2

1)
x^2 + 4 = 0      Subtract 4 from each side
x^2 = -4
You cannot square a number to get a negative number. No real solution. (If you have learned about imaginary numbers, answer is 2i)

2)
<span>x^2+x-6=0        Factor. 3 and -2 add up to 1, and multiply to -6
(x+3)(x-2) = 0
Zero Product Property: Which numbers would put a zero in one of the parentheses?
x = -3 or x=2

3) </span><span>x^2-6x+7=0
Completing the Square:
Take half of b (-6), square it, and add/subtract that coefficient
x^2 - 6x + 9 - 9 + 7 = 0
(x -3)^2 - 2 = 0         Add 2 to both sides
(x-3)^2</span> = 2               Take the square root of both sides
<span>(x-3) = </span>√2 or -√2       Add 3 to both sides
<span>x = 3 + </span>√2 or 3 - √2<span>

Julie spends $5.46 at the store. Micah spends 5 times as much as Julie. Jeremy spends $6.69 more than Micah. How much money did
eduard

Answer:

Julie spent $5.46. Micah spent $27.30. Jeremy spent $33.99.

Step-by-step explanation:

Julie spent $5.46

Micah spent 5 times more than Julie, so multiply $5.46 by 5, which totals $27.30.

Jeremy spent $6.69 more than Micah, so add $6.69 to $27.30 to equal $33.99.

Determine the radius, to the nearest inch, of a large can of tuna fish that has a volume of 66 cubic
Mnenie [13.5K]

The radius of can is 2.524 inches

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Given that large can of tuna fish that has a volume of 66 cubic  inches and a height of 3.3 inches

To find: Radius

Given a large can of tuna fish, we know that can is generally of cylinder shape, we can use the volume of cylinder formula,

<em><u>The volume of cylinder is given as:</u></em>

\text{ volume of cylinder}= \pi r^{2} h$

Where,

"r" is the radius of cylinder

"h" is the height of cylinder

\pi is a constant equal to 3.14

Substituting the given values in above formula,

66 = 3.14 \times r^2 \times 3.3\\\\66 = r^2 \times 10.362\\\\r^2 = \frac{66}{10.362}\\\\r^2 = 6.369\\\\r = 2.524

Thus the radius of can is 2.524 inches

antiseptic1488 [7]

Answer:

$122.9

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

Principal= $114

Rate= 3.9%

Time= 2 years

The amount in the account is given as

A=P(1+rt)

substitute

A=114(1+0.039*2)

A=114(1+0.078)

A=114(1.078)
