Mult. both sides by x^2.  You'll get y = 5x^2.  "y varies directly as the square of x."

What are the zeros of the polynomial function?
Nesterboy [21]
It won't be 0 because f(0) = 300

AS the last term is 300  the zeroes could possibly be  4  of the  following possibilities  +/-1 , +/-3 , +/- 10  ( The Rational Roots Theorem)

f(3) =  3^4 - 2(3)^3 - 103(3)^2 + 209(3) + 300  = 0

so 3 is one zero

f(10), f(-10) and f(-1)  are also = zero

so the list is  -10, -1, 3, 10 answer

students must In order for a class trip to be scheduled, at least sign up. So far, 23 students have signed up. Write and solve a
rusak2 [61]
I have added a screenshot with the complete question.

Answer:
At least 7 more students need to sign up for the field trip to be scheduled

Explanation:
Assume that the least number of students remaining to register for the trip to be scheduled is x.

total number of students = students who already registered + x

We are given that, the least number of students required for this trip is 30. This means that:
total number of students ≥ 30
Now, we know that 23 students already registered.

The inequality now is:
x + 23 ≥ 30
x ≥ 30 - 23
x ≥ 7

This means that at least 7 more students must register for the trip to be scheduled.

Hope this helps :)

The life of a manufacturer's compact fluorescent light bulbs is normal, with mean 12,000 hours and standard deviation 2,000 hour
ikadub [295]
Mean = 12000
Standard Deviation = 2000

We have to find how many standard deviations is 14,500 away from the mean.
This can be achieved by calculating the z-score

Z-score tells us how many standard deviations above or below is a sample value from the mean. A positive z value shows, sample value is above the mean.

z score can be calculated as = (Sample Value - Mean )/Standard Deviation)
So,
Z-score = \frac{14500-12000}{2000} =1.25

This means, 14,500 is 1.25 standard deviations above the mean value 12,000.
