People with binge-eating disorder feels comfort when overeating because it helps them ease unpleasant emotions like stress and anxiety. However, because of this comfort they tend to eat more which lead them to weight gain. This will just make them feel worse and regretful. Feeling bad of their appearance will just lead them again to overeat to help them cope and feel good again.  It's like a cycle- overeat to feel better, back to feeling worse, then overeat again to ease negative feelings.
