Anna Julia Cooper became a renknown scholar with important contributions to feminism and African American political philosophy like <em>A Voice from the South By a Black Woman Of the South </em>(1982)
She was born in North Carolina between 1858-1859, before the American Civil War. Her mother was an untutored slave who was able to read the Bible and write a little, and her father was probably her mother's master. This background was actually common for African Americans in slavery times and depicts the uneducation and sexual abuse faced by female slaves as well as the struggle for self-education.
When she was 9 years old and removed from slavery, Anna went to Saint Augustine Normal School in Raleigh, where she studied and also worked as a tutor and educator after completing her studies.
Her background and her mother's situation motivated her to pursue a life of teaching and educating others, as well as highlighting the structures of opression faced by African Americans.
Taft-Hartley Act intended to limit the power of labor unions and their leaders in terms of negotiating salaries and exercising the right to strike. Many of these statutes are still in place.

In Europe, the regions were mostly and vastly dominated by the abundant forest cover in the north and the west. Hence these areas have sparse population and have very slow pace to implement new ways. These areas also don’t have any fertile land that would help them to create a powerful kingdom. On the other hand, America has a different story. In this area there were not many animals that could carry loads. Hence the local communities produced only in limited amount and traded luxuries.
Basically, foreign influence was spreading more than ever. British were dictating the emperor what needs to be done and were becoming more and more powerful. From the other side of the land, Japanese were also spreading their influence. The boxers were sick of this because they had the idea of China being nationalistic and wanted to free it from foreign influence.
