How does Orwell use satire to support his purpose in this passage?
katrin [286]

Answer: He uses exaggeration to make communism appear too simplistic.

Explanation:

Animal farm is Orwell's allegorical novel about a group of animals that rebel against their human farmer. In its essence, this novel is a satirical story against the Soviet Union.

Satire is a genre in literature in which the author employs exaggeration, irony and humor to criticize people and their actions, often in relation to political issues.

For example, Orwell exaggerates with the stupidity of the animals. When Boxer is sent to a slaughter house and brutally murdered, Squealer lies to them by saying that he went to a hospital. Although the animals saw the van, they believed what he said. In this way, Orwell demonstrates the lack of judgement present in the Russian society.

In this light, the correct answer would be that Orwell uses exaggeration to make communism appear too simplistic.

Which excerpt from "What the Black Man Wants" best summarizes the speech?
Vlad [161]
I am for the “immediate, unconditional, and universal” enfranchisement of the black man, in every State in the Union. I would say this excerpt best summarizes the speech of Frederick Douglass, former slave in speaking out against not only the slavery of the past controlled by the slave owner and now slavery of society by not allowing the black man to have full emanicipation. Also, where he says full emanche ipation of the black man is a right and not a priviledge I think he hits the nail right on the head because we all have basic rights by virtue of being human.
