The Constitutional Convention of 1787 took place in the Old Pennsylvania State House, in Philadelphia with the purpose of revise and modify the Articles of Confederation (first written form of government of the United States), and ended up creating the United States Constitution, and establishing a stronger central government (federal government). One of the compromises made by the states was the <em>Three-Fifths compromise, in which it was stated that three out five slaves would be counted in matters of representation and taxation. </em>
