hey Ian!

Explanation:

What role did England and France play in the African slave trade?

Britain used its influence to persuade other countries around the world to abolish the slave trade and sign treaties to allow the Royal Navy to interdict their ships. Somersett's case in 1772 held that slavery had no basis in English law and was thus a violation of Habeas Corpus.

As of 1778, the French were importing approximately 13,000 Africans for enslavement to the French West Indies. In France the slaving interest was based in Nantes, La Rochelle, Bordeaux, and Le Havre during the years 1763 to 1792. The men involved defended their business against the abolition movement of 1789.

Should the United States pay reparations for American desendents of slavery?

While reparations might take many forms, this debate deals with a one time expenditure of money for Black Americans who are descendants of slavery.

It is assumed that this payment is financed through common ways of government financing, reduced spending, tax increases, borrowing and not, for example, by levying taxes on companies that profited from slavery.

Also, this one-time expenditure will settle any future charges and be final.

Did America inherit most slaves?

During the second half of the 17th century, a terrible transformation, the enslavement of people solely on the basis of race, occurred in the lives of African Americans living in North America.

Like most huge changes, the imposition of hereditary race slavery was gradual, taking hold by degrees over many decades.

When did the USA ban the importation of slaves?

The Act Prohibiting Importation of Slaves of 1807 is a United States federal law that provided that no new slaves were permitted to be imported into the United States.

The civil war, What value did slavery add to the economy of the United States?

Slavery was so profitable, it sprouted more millionaires per capita in the Mississippi River valley than anywhere in the nation. With cash crops of tobacco, cotton and sugar cane, America's southern states became the economic engine of the burgeoning nation.

Who would the reparations include?

They believe that government could satisfy the call for reparations by a variety of means, including land, ownership of companies, stock, money, and aircraft.

What have other countries done about this?

North Korea and Eritrea have the world's highest rates of modern slavery.

The Central African nation of Burundi also has a high prevalence of slavery.

India was home to the largest total number with an estimated 8 million slaves.

China, Pakistan, North Korea and Nigeria rounded out the top five nations with the largest number of slaves, accounting for about 60 percent of victims globally.
