There were several things that early American leaders learned from the Iroquois Confederation. The Iroquois Confederation was founded by the Peacemaker in 1142 or 1451, and it intended to bring together five nations of the southern Great Lakes. From this example, early American leaders could have learned about the idea of collaboration and unity of different peoples. They also could have learned about the importance of alliances with neighbouring peoples.
