     In 1946, Roosevelt was appointed as a UN delegate by President Harry Truman who succeeded at the White House following the death of Franklin Roosevelt in 1945. As leader of the Commission on Human Rights, she was instrumental in formulating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that presented to the United Nations General Assembly with these words:

    “<em>We are today at the threshold of a great event in both the life of the United Nations and the life of humanity. This declaration can become the international Magna Carta for all men everywhere.</em> ”

After many failed attempts, the case finally reached US Supreme Court in 1856 and decided in 1857, not in favor of Scott and his pursue of obtaining the rightful american citizenship. The judge decided that no individual of African descent, whether slave or free, had the right to appeal to Supreme Court.</em>
