why did the great compromise and the 3/5 compromise involves so much debate and discussion at the constitutional convention

Each state was most concerned for its own interests and needs. There was much debate about states overruling each other or one region have more control than others.The Great Compromise stated the Senate would be 2 people per state and the House of Representatives would be based on population.
